Regarding the All-State players listed for my high school, Toccoa High School (merged with Stephens County Schools in 1971), I noticed a couple of errors for our 1965 All-State players. Jimmy Holbrooks and Jerry Howard were listed as Ends (E). They were both backs. Holbrooks was our quaterback and threw 19, TD passes. Jerry Howard was our tailback and scored a school record 26 TDs. I was a junior on that team and also wrote the game stories for local newspaper, The Toccoa Record.
Also, on the "Home" page for Toccoa High School, our school colors are listed as "Purple and White." Our official school colors from inception until the merging of the Toccoa City Schools with Stephens County Schools in 1971, were "Purple and Gold." During the last few years under Coach Bobby Pate we did wear white jersies with purple numbers outlined in gold at home and gold jersies with purple trim on the road. In any case, the official school colors were always Purple and Gold.
