Baxley Training attempted to field a football team in 1950-51<ref>The Baxley News Banner, November 9, 1950</ref>, but apparently never made it to the field. Appling County Consolidated's first team likely played in 1961.<br />

Appling County Consolidated was on the wrong side of one of the largest margins of victory in state history and likely the largest in the history of the Georgia Interscholastic Association when it was defeated by Wilson High, 121-0, September 13, 1969<ref>The Tifton Gazette, September 15, 1969</ref>. Appling lost 15 fumbles and was intercepted twice.<br />
