Ballard-Hudson opened in 1949, a combination of [[Ballard]] and [[Hudson]] high schools.&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;&amp;quot;$500,000 High School Erected in Macon, Ga.,&amp;quot; The Pittsburgh Courier (Pa.), November 5, 1949&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; The merger made it the only black public high school in [[Macon]], which it would remain until the opening of [[Peter G. Unlike Macon&amp;#039;s white high schools, Ballard-Hudson was coeducational.&lt;br /&gt;

== Football ==&lt;br /&gt;
Ballard-Hudson competed in the [[Georgia Interscholastic Association]] from 1949-67. Starting in 1968, the school played in the [[Georgia High School Association]], where it would remain until closure in 1970.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Ballard-Hudson won two state football titles in the GIA, one in [[1955 GIA Class AA football season|1955]] and another in [[1959 GIA Class AA football season|1959]]. In 1955, the Tigers won the Class AA title over [[Howard (Atlanta|Howard of Atlanta]], 33-6. In 1959, they defeated [[Washington (Atlanta)|Washington of Atlanta]], 14-7.&lt;br /&gt;
