'''Boggs Academy''' was a private school in Keysville.

== History ==
Boggs Academy opened in 1984, as a Presbyterian school<ref>[http://boggs-academy.com/aboutus/history.html Boggs Academy history]</ref> that served both area residents and boarders.

Despite its private status as a high school, its elementary was considered public. A new building for the elementary was included in the bids for Burke projects under the Minimum Foundation Program in September 1953.<ref>The True Citizen, September 3, 1953</ref> Boggs was one of the first African-American schools in the area to have its own gym, funded by the school and the Presbyterian National Missions Board.<ref>The True Citizen, December 25, 1952</ref> The gym opened January 9, 1953.

Integration helped speed Boggs' demise. The Georgia High School Associationgave the high school as having an average daily attendance of 143 in 1978-79,<ref>Georgia High School Association Constitution and By-Laws, 1978-79</ref> a number that dropped to 50 for region reclassification in 1982-83.<ref>Georgia High School Association Constitution and By-Laws, 1982-83</ref>

Boggs closed in 1984.<ref>"An Alternative to Public Education," Black Enterprise, September 1984</ref>

== Football ==
Despite its organization and influence, Boggs has not shown up on any football schedules until the 1958 season. Though short-lived, the school won three state titles in the Georgia Interscholastic Association: Class B titles in 1961, 1962 and 1965.

Boggs defeated Wayne County Training in 1961, 26-0, in a game played in Augusta at Lucy Laney Stadium. In 1962, they again won over Wayne, 14-2. The 1965 final was a tie with Eureka High of Ashburn, 6-6.

Boggs lost in the 1963 Class B finals to Evans County, 18-6, and to Eureka in 1967, 13-0.

Upon the demise of the GIA, Boggs joined the GHSA in 1970 and competed in football through 1975.
