== History ==&lt;br /&gt;
A new Rosenwald school building joined a building already in existence for Statesboro High &amp;amp; Industrial in 1922,&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;Bulloch Times and Statesboro News, October 5, 1922&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; but in November 1924, both buildings burned.&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;Bulloch Times and Statesboro News, November 13, 1924&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; Statesboro High Industrial had been boarding some students at that time and a dormitory was saved from the fire.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
A second Rosenwald building was erected soon after.&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;[http://rosenwald.fisk.edu Fisk University Rosenwald Card File Database]&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In c. 1948,&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;[https://wjms-bcss-ga.schoolloop.com/history William James Middle History]&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; the school was named for William James, a pioneer for black education in the city.&lt;br /&gt;

After a new William James High was built in 1955,&amp;lt;ref name=&amp;quot;name&amp;quot;&amp;gt;Bulloch Herald, January 12, 1956&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; the old Statesboro High &amp;amp; Industrial building was retained as William James Elementary. It would burn in 1960.&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;Bulloch Times, February 2, 1960&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;

== Football ==&lt;br /&gt;
Statesboro High &amp;amp; Industrial played at least two seasons of football, playing a non-school Savannah team and against Dorchester Academy of Liberty County in the late 1920s.&lt;br /&gt;
