Game summary

Derrell Stegall, a last-minute replacement for fellow Newnan star Demiko Goodman, caught 3 passes for 83 yards to earn the Offensive MVP award. His 51-yard touchdown reception from Ferlando Williams was the game-winner. Patrick Bolen kicked a 42-yard field goal with 1:05 remaining to break the tie. Bolen had missed a chip-shot effort earlier. Buford’s Neil Brown recovered fumbles on consecutive plays. He coughed up the first fumble return at the South two-yard line. On the next play, he took another loose ball into the end zone to provide the only Yank points of the game. Tristan Davis of Tri-Cities was the Defensive MVP. This was the first North/South game to be played in December and the first after the demise of the Georgia/Florida game.
