Game summary
The North was seemingly in control, then almost let it slip away at the end. The South’s Anthony McNeil from Clinch County attempted a 33-yard field goal as time expired only to see the kick drift wide right. Coach Gary Guthrie of LaGrange said, “With the wider high school goal posts, I think it might have been good.” The South made a game of it late, scoring on a 64-yard pass from Junior Sneed of Treutlen to Valdosta’s Brice Hunter. The North got on the board first on a 2-yard run by Jermaine Johnson in the second. Lee Southerland added a 28-yard field goal in the third. Junior Sneed was 6/7 passing for 157 yards. Two lineman received the MVP awards. Dunwoody tackle Bill Thompson was the most valuable on offense and Chris Ward from SW DeKalb was the defensive choice.
