Appling County Consolidated was a former African-American school in Baxley.

History

Appling County Consolidated opened in 1955[1]. It combined the high schools of Baxley Training and the Appling County Training (sometimes referred to Appling Training), a county high school.

In 1970, Appling County Consolidated was converted to Appling Junior High[2].

Football

Baxley Training attempted to field a football team in 1950-51[3], but apparently never made it to the field. Appling County Consolidated's first team likely played in 1961.

Appling County Consolidated was on the wrong side of one of the largest margins of victory in state history and likely the largest in the history of the Georgia Interscholastic Association when it was defeated by Wilson High, 121-0, September 13, 1969[4]. Appling lost 15 fumbles and was intercepted twice.
