Burgess Landrum was a black school located in Millen.

History

The school opened in 1956[1] after construction began in March 1955.[2] While a new building had already been planned, its need became more urgent in 1955 when a fire destroyed Jenkins County Training March 8.[3] Burgess Landrum combined the high schools of Jenkins County Training and Aaron Industrial.

Burgess Landrum was named April 3, 1956 for the then-Jenkins County superintendent.[1]

Football

Burgess Landrum played only a handful of football seasons in the Georgia Interscholastic Association. Its high school fully combined with Jenkins County in 1970. The building is still in use as Jenkins County Elementary.
