Peter G. Appling was an African-American high school in Macon.
History
Peter G. Appling High School opened in 1958[1] with an enrollment of 932 in its first year. Until its opening, Macon's only black high school was Ballard-Hudson. Unlike their white counterparts in this era, Macon's black high schools were coeducational.
Macon's high schools fully integrated and became coed in 1970.
Football
Peter G. Appling began as a member of the Georgia Interscholastic Association with its first football team in 1959, but moved to the Georgia High School Association in 1968.
