Ron Duncan/Notes
Background
- Duncan graduated from Newberry College in 1993. He was a four year letterman and a starter for two years[1].
Coaching career
- After graduating from Newberry, Duncan became an assistant coach in charge of defensive backs and wide receivers at Crescent High School (Anderson, S.C.)[1].
- From 1995-1998 he was the Strom Thurmond High School (Edgefield, S.C.) defensive coordinator. While there the school won two region champions and was a state finalist and quarterfinalists[1].
- Duncan was defensive coordinator at Camden High School (S.C.) between 1999-2002. During that time Camden won four consecutive region championships and a state title in 2001 and was a state runner-up in 2002[1].
- Duncan became head coach at Bamberg-Ehrhardt (Bamberg, S.C.) in 2003, where he compiled a 50-12 record over five seasons. His teams won two region championships (2006 and 2007) and twice advanced to the state semifinals before falling to the eventual state champion by three points (2005 and 2007). Prior to his arrival in Bamberg there had been just one winning season in the previous decade and an average of three wins a year[1].
- In 2008 and 2009, Duncan led Seneca High School (S.C.) to the Class AAA state playoffs in both seasons[1].
- In 2010 he became the defensive coordinator at Elbert County[1].
