Summer Hill was a former African-American school in Cartersville.

History

Summer Hill closed in 1968 as a high school[1] and with total integration, was converted to Cartersville Junior High.[2][3]

Football

Summer Hill fielded at least one team in the 1930s. Football was resumed by 1947 and the school fielded teams until its closure.

Summer Hill reached the Georgia Interscholastic Association Class B semifinals in 1956, losing to eventual state champions Fair Street, 15-7.
