Ballard was an African-American school in Macon.
History
Ballard began life as Ballard Normal, a private school. It became a public school in 1942[1] when the American Missionary Association pulled its funds.[2] The switch from private to public meant that Ballard had to change its interracial faculty.[2]
Ballard combined with Hudson High School in 1949.[3]
Football
Ballard was one of the earliest African-American high schools to play football in Georgia, hitting the gridiron by 1923.
