Carver was formerly an African-American school in Milledgeville.

History

Carver High School burned in the 1940s. It was soon rebuilt,[1] but Baldwin County school officials knew the building would be inadequate for the load of students from both it and Eddy, a private school in Milledgeville that had also recently burned. The new building opened in 1949.

Plans were in the works by 1952 to build a new high school,[2] which was known as Boddie when it opened in 1956. Carver became an elementary school after Boddie's opening[3] and remained one until closing in 1988.[4]

Football

Carver was fielding football teams by 1945. At least one game was played at Milledgeville's Bonner Field.
